FX's The League

With football in full swing, it's no surprise that cable's FX channel is launching its new comedy The League, about a group of guys who are obsessed with playing fantasy football.

Premiering Oct. 29 at 10:30 p.m., the single-camera comedy looks at a group of suburban thirtysomethings—some single, some married—and their strong (if at times, raunchy) bonds of friendship, as each tries try to take home their fantasy football trophy for the season.

In an exclusive video report, Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin talks with the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia) who created the series.

2009-11-20

It was business as usual on Thursday, with CBS first in the overnights, and ABC expected to win the evening overall among adults 18-49 thanks to the ongoing strength of Grey’s Anatomy. Third in the metered markets was vastly improved Fox (which was up 58 percent year-to-year), followed by NBC and The CW.

Mr. TV: Stuffing TV Turkeys

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and incredibly this is my sixth annual column dedicated to the best and worst on the small screen. And as always, there are plenty of turkeys stuffing up the airwaves just waiting to be plucked by Mr. TV.
