The Monday night ESPN telecast of the 2008 State Farm Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium averaged a 6.4 household rating and 6.7 million viewers, up 25 percent and 35 percent, respectively, over last year’s telecast of the Home Run Derby.

The telecast was also the highest-rated and most-viewed ad-supported cable program in 2008 to date, besting CNN’s telecast of the Jan. 31 Democratic Debate.

A taped telecast of the Taco Bell Legends and Celebrity Softball Game from Yankee Stadium, which followed the Home Run Derby telecast, earned a 2.5 household rating and 3.3 million viewers.
