Katz to Rep ICBC

Urban broadcaster ICBC owns and operates 17 stations in four markets

Dec 4, 2008

-By Katy Bachman

Katz Media Group announced Wednesday (Dec. 3) it has added ICBC Broadcast Holdings to its national radio sales representation roster. ICBC is the latest former Interep client to sign with Katz.

Urban broadcaster ICBC owns and operates 17 stations in four markets including New York, San Francisco, Columbia, S.C., and Jackson, Miss. The stations were formerly represented by McGavren Guild and D & R, both rep firms owned by Interep, which is in the process of liquidating its assets.

Earlier this week Katz signed Lincoln Financial Media and Beasley Broadcast Group. CBS Radio and Entercom Communications signed with Katz last week.

Other Interep clients, such as Spanish Broadcasting System, have yet to make a decision about their national sales representation.

Meanwhile, two smaller rep firms, Local Focus and a reconstituted McGavren Guild, are positioning their firms as alternatives to Katz, but neither comes close to matching Katz's national reach in the top markets.

2009-01-07

CBS scored an easy overnight Tuesday victory with its winning line-up of NCIS, bona fide freshman hit The Mentalist and Without a Trace.  But the season-premiere (and network launch) of ABC's Scrubs only proved that this sitcom should have ended two years ago.
