Meredith Relaunches 10 Local Sites

Nov 2, 2009

-By Katy Bachman

Ramping up its digital media strategy, Meredith Broadcasting relaunched Monday (Nov. 2) local Web sites for 10 of its 12 TV stations serving markets such as Atlanta; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; and Nashville, Tenn. The redesigned sites have state-of-the-art video players; live weather radar; and breaking news alerts arranged on a clean, easy-to-scan page.

As part of the redesign, the Meredith sites, created with the help of Internet Broadcasting, also feature more social-media tools for viewers to interact with one another and on-air talent via blogs, slide shows, Facebook and Twitter. The new sites are also available via an iPhone application.

“The broadcasting industry is changing and our viewers now demand news 24/7 and on multiple platforms,” said Paul Karpowicz, president of the Meredith Local Media Group.

Meredith’s sites draw 6 million monthly users.

Mr. TV: Stuffing TV Turkeys

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and incredibly this is my sixth annual column dedicated to the best and worst on the small screen. And as always, there are plenty of turkeys stuffing up the airwaves just waiting to be plucked by Mr. TV.
