NYT Critic Barnes Dies at 81

Clive Barnes, longtime theater and dance critic for the New York Post, has died.

Barnes died Wednesday of cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Post announced. He was 81.

Barnes had a long run as a critic covering the arts scene in New York. He arrived in 1965 from London to write about dance for The New York Times, where he was its dance critic until 1978. He was also the paper's daily drama critic from 1967-78.

In 1978, Barnes moved to the New York Post where he was the paper's chief theater and dance critic for three decades.

CBS Wins Tuesday; Lackluster Start for Scrubs on ABC

CBS scored an easy overnight Tuesday victory with its winning line-up of NCIS, bona fide freshman hit The Mentalist and Without a Trace.  But the season-premiere (and network launch) of ABC's Scrubs only proved that this sitcom should have ended two years ago.
