Former Rolling Stone Publisher Lands at Luxury Mag

Chelstowski will be publisher of the first U.S. title of CR Media, a Singapore-based company that publishes editions in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong

Forthcoming luxury lifestyle magazine Prestige New York has landed former Rolling Stone publisher Ray Chelstowski, who got the boot in August from the Wenner Media title, to lead its sales effort.

Chelstowski will be publisher of the first U.S. title of CR Media, a Singapore-based company that publishes editions in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Prestige New York, which has publishing vet Bob Guccione Jr. as a consultant, will be delivered to a controlled circulation of 50,000 rich households in New York when it launches in February.

The launch comes at a curious time, given the ad downturn that’s swept through the magazine industry, even cutting into titles that depend on luxury advertising. This year through November, the wealth category of magazines, including Robb Report and Town & Country, declined 4.1 percent, per the Mediaweek Monitor.

2009-01-07

CBS scored an easy overnight Tuesday victory with its winning line-up of NCIS, bona fide freshman hit The Mentalist and Without a Trace.  But the season-premiere (and network launch) of ABC's Scrubs only proved that this sitcom should have ended two years ago.
