Cinelatino Inks VOD Measurement Deal With Rentrak

Oct 20, 2009

-By Katy Bachman

Rentrak has signed a multi-year deal with Cinelatino, a Spanish-language premium film channel, for detailed video-on-demand audience estimates. Under the agreement, announced Tuesday (Oct. 20), Rentrak will become a subscriber to Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials service, which processes data from 70 million set-top boxes from 33 MSOs.

Cinelatino offers viewers current blockbusters, as well as critically acclaimed movies, from Mexico, Latin America, Spain and the U.S.

The data from Rentrak will be used to help the channel gauge viewing preferences as it competes with nearly 20 different VOD channels targeting the Hispanic market.

“The information provided by OnDemand Essentials is the knowledge we need to ensure we continue to deliver programming that meets our target consumers’ desires and maintain our position as the leading destination for ‘event’ movies and series in Spanish,” said Jim McNamara, chairman of Cinelatino.
