Ogilvy & Mather is set to replace CEO Shelly Lazarus (pictured)
Ogilvy & Mather Group is set to name Miles Young to succeed
longtime worldwide CEO Shelly Lazarus, sources said.
Young is chairman of the group's Asia-Pacific region.
Ogilvy referred calls to parent WPP Group, where reps could not
immediately be reached.
Lazarus has held the top post since 1996 and carries a secondary
title of chairman. Sources expect her to remain with the WPP
operation for a lengthy transition period, perhaps in the role of
chairman.
Young will assume the CEO post Jan. 1, said sources.
Young has worked in Asia for more than a decade, based mainly in
Hong Kong. Before that, he was European regional director of what
was then known as Ogilvy & Mather Direct in London. Young
joined the agency in 1983.
Ogilvy's Asia-Pacific operation is seen as a leader among its
peers, serving both multi-national and local clients, including
Lenovo, IBM, China Mobile and Motorola. Its strength there was
underscored by the agency in 2006 winning a coveted Beijing
Olympics-related assignment from Johnson & Johnson. The other
finalists were TBWA, JWT, McCann Erickson and Lowe.
