Razorfish's Colin Kinsella Moves to Digitas

Oct 28, 2009

-By Brian Morrissey

Publicis Groupe has begun sorting out management chores at its digital agencies Razorfish and Digitas, with Razorfish chief innovation officer Colin Kinsella moving to Digitas as president of North American operations.

Kinsella fills a slot created when Laura Lang ascended to global CEO to replace David Kenny, who is managing director of VivaKi, the unit that houses Publicis' digital assets.

The move comes two weeks after Publicis closed its $530 million deal to acquire Razorfish. The holding company is faced with more decisions, as it seeks to maintain two large digital agency brands but eliminate redundancies in technology development and platforms. It has already decided to combine Razorfish's healthcare practice with Digitas Health.

In an e-mail to employees, Lang said the moves presage a new positioning for Digitas.

For Razorfish, Kinsella is the latest executive departure, following the move of chief strategy officer Jeff Lanctot to Microsoft.

Kinsella was named chief innovation officer at Razorfish this past May. Prior to that, he served as president of its West Coast division. Kinsella, who is based in San Francisco, joined Razorfish in 2004 from FCB.

Digitas also said Tony Wiseman, president of Digitas' Chicago office, will assume the role of global client leader.

The rest of Digitas and Razorfish's management teams remain unchanged.

Mr. TV: Stuffing TV Turkeys

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and incredibly this is my sixth annual column dedicated to the best and worst on the small screen. And as always, there are plenty of turkeys stuffing up the airwaves just waiting to be plucked by Mr. TV.
