The CW Promotes Brian Doherty to SVP, National Sales

Brian Doherty has been promoted to svp, national sales, The CW, the network has confirmed.
Doherty will continue to report to Rob Tuck, evp national sales at the net.
 
Based in New York, Doherty will oversee all national ad sales efforts for The CW, serving as the primary liaison for advertisers, agencies and clients.

In addition, Doherty will continue to manage the sales teams in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Doherty had previously served as vp, national sales, at the network.
 
"Brian has succeeded at each position he has held within our sales organization over the years, building strong relationships and earning the respect of our advertising clients,” said Tuck in a statement. “As he’s proven time and again, Brian clearly possesses the leadership abilities, the first class reputation and the diverse skill set that has helped make The CW sales team one of the best in the business."
 
Prior to joining The CW in 2006, Doherty was vp, sales at The WB network, where he supervised the New York sales team and oversaw the accounts of several agencies, including Mediavest, Mediacom, OMD and Initiative Media. He joined The WB in 1999 as an account executive.
 
Doherty began his career in advertising on the client side of the industry, first as an assistant media buyer for the DDB Needham ad agency. He then moved to Anheuser-Busch, where he was responsible for beer marketer’s sports-related media buying. Doherty switched to network sales in 1998, when he joined CBS Cable/TNN as an account executive.
 
Doherty earned his undergraduate degree in marketing from Saint Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y.
