Circuit City, Thomson's Premiere Extend In-Store Pact

Premiere Retail Networks will upgrade the servers for its new IPTV platform, recently tested in more than 25 Circuit City stores

Through a new agreement with Circuit City Stores, Thomson's Premiere Retail Networks will continue to operate and program the retailer's in-store video network. The multi-year agreement, announced Monday (July 7) extends a relationship which began in 1994.

As part of the new agreement, PRN will upgrade the servers for PRN's new IPTV platform, recently tested in more than 25 Circuit City stores. Programming on the screens will also enhance Circuit City's merchandising of HDTVs and other home entertainment products.  

In addition to Circuit City, PRN's retail partners include ACME Albertsons, Best Buy, Carrefour, Costco, Jewel-Osco, Pathmark, SAM'S Club, Shaw's ShopRite, Star Market and Wal-Mart Stores. The company has more than 100 programming partners and recently announced an agreement with Conde Nast's Bon Appetit for customized content over its Checkout TV Network.

With just 25 days to go until the official start of the 2008-09 season, here is an updated listing of series and season-premiere dates. Keep in mind that the return of Deal or No Deal and debut of America’s Toughest Jobs, both on NBC, was this past Monday.

I’d never seen a syndicated court show taped in person, so I was not about to turn down a recent invitation to attend an afternoon’s worth of episodes for upcoming Sony Pictures Television gaveler Judge Karen, presided over by South Florida judge Karen Mills-Francis.
