Magazines. You remember those. They're that quaint medium that enabled Time Inc., Condé Nast and Hearst to erect global media empires that, lately, have become purveyors not only of print but also a dizzying display of digital sidelines, TV shows, satellite radio channels, retail shops, housewares, even condiments. Rodale powerhouse Men's Health sits atop this year’s AdweekMedia Brand Leaders Hot List, our annual ranking of magazines doing the most aggressive, ingenious job of propagating their brands. Those gathered in Boca Raton, Fla., Oct. 28-30 for the American Magazine Conference will get an earful about the "Maga-Brand Revolution." And it's no wonder publishers are fixated on brand proliferation. Time Inc.'s InStyle projects that, in five years, businesses beyond the core print product will contribute a whopping 20 percent of the brand's revenue.

CBS Dominates Tuesday Overnights; DOA Return for ABC's According to Jim

2008-12-03

It was a clean Tuesday metered market sweep for CBS care of its combination of NCIS, bona fide freshman hit The Mentalist, and relocated Without a Trace.  But the two episode return of ABC's According to Jim was left at the starting gate.
