Pith & Vinegar: In Search of 'Mad' Ratings

Last September, a few weeks before Mad Men wrapped its mesmerizing first season on AMC, I sent an e-mail to executive vp and general manager Charlie Collier asking if the series was coming back for a sophomore run. Movers

More than a year after parent company Discovery Communications created the position, TLC has named Brent Willman chief financial officer, effective immediately. Willman most recently served as CFO at Game Show Network, where he oversaw all aspects of finance and accounting. Before that, he was vp and controller, E! Entertainment. Based in Los Angeles, Willman reports to Neal Kirsch, executive vp and CFO, Discovery U.S. Networks. In June 2007, Discovery created CFO positions at the flagship channel, as well as Animal Planet and Planet Green, while setting aside a spot at TLC to be filled once the network had fully coalesced under president and general manager, Angela Shapiro-Mathes.

The Year That Wasn't
