MTVN Inks With Rentrak Ratings Service

Rentrak announced Monday (March 15) it signed MTV Networks to its set-top-box TV ratings. MTV Networks—which includes a number of cable channels including MTV, Comedy Central, Spike, TV Land and VH1—will have access to Rentrak's TV Essentials service, which provides second-by-second household TV ratings.

Multicultural Ad Spend Fared Better in '09

Ad spending on Spanish-language media and African-American media fared better than overall ad market 2009. Compared to a 9 percent drop in overall ad spending, spending declined 4.7 percent on Spanish-language media and 7.3 percent on African-American media, according to a Nielsen report released Friday (March 12).

CBS and Fox Dominate Week of March 8

There were no Winter Olympics or Academy Awards telecast this week…nothing out of the ordinary. With that in mind, it was back to normal with CBS first overall in households and total viewers and the home of American Idol, Fox, No. 1 in the three key demos.
