One word pretty much sums up the career path of Scott Koondel: momentum. Unlike the typical media exec, secure in a given medium, his progression — from Paramount and Viacom to CBS Paramount and, ultimately, the CBS Television Distribution Group—has afforded the versatile syndication sales executive a hand in content and distribution as well, running the gamut of all broadcast platforms. In short, he's that rare suit who not only survived all the company mashups, but also thrived.

Koondel's current job of executive vp, off-network, cable and interactive media for CTD, holds him responsible for the sales and marketing of all CBS Paramount Network Television inventory, past and present, as well as CBS News and Showtime, across broadcast, cable, pay TV, video on demand and all digital platforms. That makes him responsible for more than 75,000 hours of programming. And among his growing list of responsibilities: finding creative ways to bolster re venue. This year, Koondel spearheaded the sale of NCIS to USA (airing on the cable net beginning next year) and Medium to Lifetime (2009).

After early stints in sales and marketing at a trio of major media players—A&E Television Networks, Tribune Television and Cox Communications—Koondel joined Paramount in 1994 as Eastern divisional manager. Five promotions later, Koondel had risen to exec vp, distribution.
